Royal Ascot races preview Day 4

There are only two days to go at the 2008 Royal Ascot Meeting, and Ascot Racecourse will fill to the rafters today as English high society gather to watch six top class thoroughbred races. The highlight of the day will be the Coronation Stakes, where Aidan O’Brien will look to take his fourth feature race win at the Royal Ascot meeting this year.

2:30 Albany Stakes
The first race of the day sees Jim Bolger’s unbeaten, 11/10 priced, Cuis Ghare run as favourite. Jet D’Eau is priced second at 15/2, with Please Sing priced at 10/1.

3:05 King Edward VII Stakes
Conduit goes into the King Edward VII Stakes as 10/3 favourite. However punters will be looking at Bronze Cannon who skipped Epsom in favour of a run in this race at a price of 4/1. Hebridean is third priced at 9/2.

3:45 Coronation Stakes
The Coronation Stakes is the day’s feature race, and Aidan O’Brien will be hoping that his 8/1 Psalm will answer his prayers and deliver him a fourth feature race win. However Spacious goes into the race as 3/1 favourite, with Infallible at 10/3 and Lush Lashes at 7/1 completing a strong line-up of short-odds favourites.

4:20 Wolferton Handicap Stakes
The Wolferton Handicap Stakes is the day’s first cavalry charge, although Bushman looks capable of achieving a hat-trick of wins in the race at 4-1. Monte-Alto shares the short odds, while Saeed Bin Suroor will be looking to Emirates Skyline to become his first winner at this year’s festival at odds of 11/2.

4:55 Queen’s Vase
Patkai runs as favourite in the Queen’s Vase. The 13/8 favourite is improving steadily and is expected to hold off 5/1 priced Ebadiyan. Captain Webb is priced slightly longer at 11/2.

5:30 Buckingham Palace Stakes
The Hills family will be sending Zaahid into the Buckingham Palace Stakes as 5/1 favourite. Iguazu falls runs at a price of 6/1 while Docofthebay takes part in his second race of the festival at 9/1.
